Commitment to the Environment
Studio Q Furniture recognizes the importance of protecting our environment and is dedicated to the preservation of natural resources and the continual improvement of the environment. We continue to reduce our footprint and support environmental awareness in our business practices and operating procedures by doing the following:
- SmartWaySM is a voluntary partnership of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency that improves air quality by reducing transportation-related emissions that cause smog and global warming.
- Using Bio-Lux™ MAX (Renewable Content Polyurethane Foam) and CFC-free Foam Components— our foam yields top quality performance without using any harmful chlorofluorocarbons (CFC’s) in the process.
- Complying with all EPA standards.
- Only using finishing materials that are HAP (Hazardous Air Pollution) compliant and recyclable.
- Lumber comes from a Certified Sustainable Hardwood Forest as defined by AHMI and based in part on verified timber growth versus removal data from the Forest Inventory and Analysis of the United Statesz Forest Service.
- Eliminate waste by nesting our wood and fabric cutting to reduce scrap and waste. The easiest way to slow the use of environmental resources is to use less from the start.
- Assembly glue is water-based which is much more environmentally sound than damaging solvent-based glues.
- Reducing use of cardboard for packaging - Our tables and select chairs are packaged with Instapak® foam which requires minimum material, is reusable, compacts to 10% of its original volume in a landfill and can be processed in municipal waste-to-energy facilities.
- Using Laminates that are Green Guard Certified.
- Frames are formaldehyde free.
- Support the use of “Green” materials for outsourced components including fabrics from our graded in vendors and other vendors when available.
- Creating a “green” work environment by using recycled materials, reducing energy usage, re-purposing, reusing and recycling office and manufacturing supplies including paper, cardboard, scrap wood and other manufacturing materials, ink cartridges, drink cans, etc.
- Use a printing company for all marketing materials that has the Forest Stewardship Council’s (FSC) Certification, Rainforest Alliance Certification, and uses automated equipment that significantly reduces paper, ink and energy waste.
- Quality hand-crafted furniture lasts for generations and preserves environmental resources better than disposable furniture.
- Wood finish with anti-microbial properties best cleaned by a damp or dry cloth: no need to use wood polishes or special cleaning products - use one of nature’s best cleaning products to clean our product water instead of polishes with harmful chemicals and aerosols.
